  8. Plug the memory module into the plug-and-play wiring harness (if it isn't already) and secure it in a place where it won't obstruct anything.
  9. Make sure no part of the wiring harness and memory module touches any moving parts of the vehicle, such as the steering column.
  10. Ensure no part of the wiring harness and memory module touches any sharp edges where long-term exposure could cause damage. Follow applicable standards during installation.
  11. Reconnect the battery.
  12. Perform a test drive following the instructions below.

Test Drive

After reconnecting the battery and turning on the ignition, you will see numerous errors on the dashboard. Don't worry, that's just because the battery was disconnected previously. All those errors will disappear after driving approximately 100 meters. Once they disappear, restart the engine. Until then, the car will remain in a sort of limp mode, where many functions won't work, even after the dashboard errors have cleared. For example, attempting to disable Start-Stop will show an "Error: Start-Stop" message. Also note that you will have to select you driving profile again.

In summary, this is what to do after module installation:

  1. Start the engine
  2. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock
  3. Drive until all the errors disappear (usually less than 100 meters). Be very careful - many of the car functions will not work.
  4. Restart the engine
  5. Done!

After completing these series of step, your car will be ready as usual and you will have all the memory functions, enjoy!

Troubleshooting

The car doesn't start after installing the module

If your car isn't starting after installing the module, it is most likely due to a connector not being fully seated. To fix this, unplug the module and carefully reconnect it. The gateway connectors are a bit tricky, so make sure you fully extend the pink lever before gently but firmly pushing the connector all the way in. If the connector isn't securely connected, the car will not start, the transmission will not shift, and the infotainment system will not work. Additionally, error codes will appear, which have to be cleared with diagnostics.
